THE LORD OF HOSTS
“Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.” Psalms 24:10 (KJV)
The name,” the Lord of Hosts” occurs 261 times in the Old Testament and I think that is enough reason for us to take the name serious. For it to have appeared that much, God must be saying something to us about it.
The meaning of the Lord of Hosts is ‘The Lord of the armies of Heaven’
2 Kings 6:15-17
15 “When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. Oh no, my lord! What shall we do? the servant asked.
16 Dont be afraid, the prophet answered. Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.
17 And Elisha prayed, Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see. Then the Lord opened the servants eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”
There are lots of expositions to the name ‘Lord of Hosts’ but looking at the seemingly simplest meaning to it, we could see that God is usually in the company of His armies. There is absolutely no need to fear!
I cannot live in a place surrounded with armies and still have fears. No matter what comes my way, I would have strong confidence that I am safe.
Do you believe that God is round about you? Do you believe that no weapon formed against you shall prosper? Do you believe that God said He will give His angels charge over you? If you don’t believe any of these, it’s high time you started believing that God, your Daddy, is round about you, keeping you!
Have a great week and a fearless one ahead!
